Andy Karl up for 2015 Tony Award

A past — and hopefully future — Kroll Call guest has been nominated for a Tony Award. Andy Karl, who helped count down lost hits of the 80s and 90s on Kroll Call, was nominated for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his work in On the Twentieth Century.

On the Twentieth Century has been a hit with audiences, and it stars Kristin Chenoweth, who is nominated for Best Leading Actress in a Musical. The show received five Tony nominations overall. If you’re interested in checking it out, you better move fast. The show will end its limited run on July 19.

This is Andy’s second consecutive Tony nomination. He received his first Tony nomination in 2014 in the Best Leading Actor in a Musical category for his portrayal of the title character in Rocky: The Musical.

Andy and his wife Orfeh (a Tony nominee for Legally Blonde) were guests on Kroll Call’s inaugural playlist show on November 28, 2014, and shared their picks for Best Lost Hits of the 80s, Favorite Songs From 1985 to 1995, and Biggest Guilty Pleasures of the 1980s and 1990s. You can listen to the show in the Kroll Call show archives or download the show as a podcast from iTunes. Both methods are completely free.

The 2015 Tony Awards ceremony will be broadcast Sunday, June 7, at 8e/7c on CBS.
