POLL: Should doing the right thing be the law?

Even as several teenage girls face charges as a result of the brutal attack in a Brooklyn McDonald’s that went viral earlier this month, the nation finds itself having to face an ugly truth: Rather than call for help, many of those who witnessed the assault used their phones to record the incident so they could upload it. For over three minutes, bystanders recorded the sadistic attack. And while there is not currently a law on the books saying that one must call authorities, a debate has begun as to whether or not this should, perhaps, be the case. If it can be proven that a person videotaped an assault instead of dialing 911, should they be held accountable, at least in part, if the victim suffers fatal injuries?

Should taping a violent incident without calling authorities be against the law?
