Honey, does my tongue make me look fat?

A new study from the University of Pennsylvania has found that obese patients should be screened for fat tongues, a possible cause of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a condition where the throat closes repeatedly during the night and blocks a person’s airways.

Dr. Richard J. Schwab, of the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in the U.S. said: ‘This is the first study to show that fat deposits are increased in the tongue of obese patients with obstructive sleep apnea.’
